December 10, 2008 - Trenton, NJ - Princeton Instruments is pleased to offer Image-Pro advanced software packages from Media Cybernetics for use with certain PI CCD cameras. The fully featured Image-Pro Plus and affordable Image-Pro Express support the Princeton Instruments PIXIS and PhotonMAX families of cameras for scientific imaging and x-ray applications. Both Princeton Instruments and Media Cybernetics are subsidiaries of Roper Industries (NYSE:ROP).

PIXIS Cameras Capture Solar Eclipse

Princeton Instruments, (PI), is proud to announce that their PIXIS 1024BR CCD cameras were critical elements in astronomy research conducted during the recent solar eclipse.
Headed by Dr. Shadia Habbal from University of Hawaii, a team of researchers from various universities traveled all the way to the Gobi desert in Mongolia to capture the most recent solar eclipse. The solar eclipse is a rare event which occurs when the bright disk of the sun is obscured by the moon for a few minutes. This latest eclipse occurred on August 1, 2008 and was seen over a wide swath including northern Canada, Greenland, Central Russia, eastern Kazakhstan, western Mongolia and China. The 1.039 magnitude total eclipse lasted for about 2 hours in some regions. However, it lasted only as short as 2 minutes and 10 seconds in places like Mongolia.

New Spectrograph Configurations Optimized for Raman and Fluorescence Applications

Princeton Instruments (PI) announces the addition of the
PIXIS: 2048 series of front and back illuminated cameras to its acclaimed PIXIS line of CCD cameras. The cameras are based on e2v technologies CCD 42-40 -2048x2048 format sensors with a large 26.7 mm x 26.7 mm imaging area. For the first time ever, PIXIS: 2048 offers deep cooling better than -70oC cooling (via thermo-electric peltier) with vacuum guaranteed for the entire life of the camera.
