Technical Writer - Scientific Instruments

Job Description:
Working closely with Product Managers and Engineering, the technical writer is responsible for writing, editing, and updating user documentation for Princeton Instruments products. These products include scientific digital camera systems, spectroscopy systems, and related software. The types of documentation include user manuals, kit instructions, manufacturing procedures, and on-line help files. In support of these documents, the technical writer is responsible for developing/acquiring the required graphic materials such as photographs, line drawings, and screen captures. The technical writer is also responsible for creating postscript files to be supplied to an off-site printing company and for generating PDF files for inclusion on product CDs and posting to company directories. In addition, the technical writer is responsible for archiving all source materials related to the user documentation. Samples of prior work should be presented at interview.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eye for detail and ability to quickly and easily grasp complex technologies.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience in desktop publishing and computer graphics tools including Microsoft Word, RoboHTML/RoboHelp, Photoshop, Freehand, Acrobat, and Illustrator or similar tools.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and researching skills.

Digital Camera Engineer

Job Description:
Princeton Instruments, a global leader in high-performance CCD detectors, spectrometers and optics, is seeking a Digital Camera Engineer to maintain and improve Industrial camera line and develop new camera designs.

Knowledge of camera electronic design and FPGA firmware development is required. Altera and Xilinx FPGA design and Wind River operating system experience are pluses. Knowledge of CCD and CMOS sensors is also desirable. BSEE required.

Product Manager (Imaging)

Princeton Instruments, a global leader in high-performance imaging, xray and spectroscopy detectors, spectrometers and optics, has an open position for a Product Manager to lead Imaging business segment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage P&L of the business segment.
  • Propose, refine and create products to increase market share.
  • Drive new product introduction to ensure timely and effective transition to the market; provide guidance and direction on required support materials and managing appropriate training for sales, marketing and customer support staff;
  • Manage product life cycles.
  • Assist in building and maintaining strategic customer relationships commensurate with giving the company insight into potential new market needs.
  • Provide expert knowledge and advice to the sales & marketing team to guide individual business decisions.
  • Assist the sales and customer support teams, where appropriate, to successfully close business.
  • Liaise with Marketing Communications to relay marketing information internally and externally.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in engineering. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in life and physical sciences research industry preferred.

Technical Sales Engineer - China

Responsibilities:

Sales:

  • Deliver revenue growth in line with agreed corporate objectives by ensuring the sales teams and channel partners have sufficient training and product knowledge to maximize their potential to win new business
  • Manage and interpret customer requirements - speaking with researchers to understand, anticipate and meet their needs
  • Record maintaining client & opportunity data in CRM system
  • Make technical presentations and product demonstrations
  • Developing and grow long-term relationships with VIP customers
  • Meet regular sales targets
  • Monitor activity of channel partners and report on key opportunities to management
  • Negotiate tender and contract terms to meet both client and company needs
  • Negotiate and close sales by agreeing on terms and conditions

Market Feedback:

  • Provide feedback regarding emerging application trends in the marketplace
  • Work with strategic customers on testing of new products to provide feedback for necessary improvements and information for sales tools
  • Build and maintain strategic customer relationships to gain insight into market needs
  • Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events

Customer Focus:

  • Be sensitive and adaptive to both stated and unstated customers needs

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in physical science research or related area
  • Ability to assist and train customers
  • Solid written and oral presentation skills including the ability to explain complex technologies and product features.
  • Good oral, written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation communication skills in English and Mandarin
  • PhD in Physics, Optics, Life Sciences or related area

Position is based in Singapore for 6-12 months with future relocation to China
