Senior Mechanical Engineer
We have an immediate need for a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer to aid in design and development efforts.
Responsibilities
This position involves mechanical design, mechanical and thermal analysis, and fluid flow analysis. Design responsibilities will include thermal management, cooling methods, and integration and may use classical methods or finite element modeling. He/she must be able to produce detailed designs and be highly motivated to meet project schedules. This individual will need to be able to assemble prototypes and/or experiments and conduct tests themselves. He/she must be able to communicate effectively in all forms and be driven to succeed in a goal-oriented environment.
Requirements
5+ years related work experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Solid 3D design skills (SolidWorks preferred)
Strong FEA and CFD experience (CosmosWorks, FloWorks, or related)
Vacuum technology knowledge a plus
Electronic packaging design experience a plus
Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, etc.) and geometric tolerancing

Technical Writer
This position will work closely with Engineering, Technical Support, Manufacturing, and Marketing/Sales. The technical writer is responsible for writing, editing, and updating user documentation for Princeton Instruments products, including digital camera systems, spectroscopy systems, and related software. Documentation includes user manuals, kit instructions, manufacturing procedures, and on-line help files. In support of these documents, the technical writer is responsible for developing/acquiring the required graphic materials such as photographs, line drawings, and screen captures. The technical writer is also responsible for creating postscript files to be supplied to an off-site printing company and for generating PDF files for inclusion on product CDs and posting to company directories. In addition, the technical writer is responsible for archiving all source materials related to the user documentation.
A pertinent Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of technical writing and/or editing in a technology-based environment are required. Candidate must have excellent written, verbal and organizational skills as well as an eye for detail and ability to quickly and easily grasp complex technologies. Candidate must also be capable of working independently or as part of a team. Experience in desktop publishing and computer graphics tools including Microsoft Word, RoboHTML / RoboHelp, Photoshop, Freehand, Acrobat, and Illustrator or similar tools is required. Also required are excellent planning, scheduling, researching, and writing skills.
