Lead Mechanical Engineer, Spectroscopy Products

Location: Acton, MA facility

Teledyne Princeton Instruments, a leading scientific imaging and spectroscopy company, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering/R&D team located in Acton, Massachusetts. We are looking for an engineer with creativity and strong problem solving skills to help us create leading-edge spectroscopy and scientific imaging instruments.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with 10 years related work experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong mechanical engineering skills.
  • Must be proficient with SolidWorks 2018 (FEA experience a plus)
  • Experience designing optical mounts and opto-mechanical systems.
  • Experience incorporating optical ray trace files (Zemax/OpticStudio) into mechanical designs is highly desirable.
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to communicate technical information at all levels, both written and verbally and provide direction to coworkers and external suppliers as required.
  • Must have demonstrated experience managing multiple projects from concept to completion, on-time and within budget.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office programs.
  • Occasional travel as required.

Senior Electrical Engineer - Camera Development

Location: Trenton, NJ facility

Teledyne Princeton Instruments, a global leader in high-performance scientific and industrial cameras has an open position for a manufacturing engineer at its Trenton facility. This position offers the right candidate a considerable opportunity for professional achievement and the amplitude to make significant strides in improving our manufacturing and quality processes.


The development engineer will be an individual contributor to the design and development of leading edge imaging and spectroscopy cameras for scientific, industrial and security applications. The engineer will execute both digital and analog circuit design, development, trouble shooting, documentation and transfer of new products to production. Digital design includes hardware and firmware design using programmable logic, microcontrollers and DSPs. The engineer may also serve as project leader from time to time as the need arises.

Education and Experience:

A BSEE or equivalent experience is the minimum required, MSEE or equivalent experience is a plus. The successful candidate will have at least 4 years experience in both analog and digital design with programmable logic (Altera preferred). Experience with embedded microcontrollers is a plus. At least 4 years experience in digital design and debugging is required. Understanding of digital design should include both the fundamentals and modern design methods (structured design, VHDL, etc.). Understanding of and ability to design with high performance analog components (op-amps, high resolution ADCs, DACs) is required. Knowledge of CCD video and control are required, and CMOS imagers is a plus. Knowledge of modern image processing techniques and standards is a plus. Experience with bringing a product into production in a small company environment is highly desired.
