Export of Scientific Cameras to India Simplified by New STA License Exception

August 15, 2018

Princeton Instruments is pleased to announce that the export of their EMCCD, ICCD, and InGaAs cameras to India is now greatly simplified. This change is due to the fact that India has recently been added to the select group of thirty-seven countries that are eligible to receive export-controlled products from US companies such as Princeton Instruments under the Strategic Trade Alliance (STA) License Exception. STA License Exception, which began in 2011 by United States government, authorizes the export, re-export, and transfer (in-country) of specified items to destinations that pose relatively low risk that these items will be used for purpose that export license requirements are designed to prevent.

Princeton Instruments manufactures state-of-the-art imaging and spectroscopy products for scientific research. Due to the underlying technology in intensified CCDs (ICCD), electron multiplied CCDs (EMCCDs), and InGaAs focal plane arrays, cameras are considered dual-use and they are export controlled under US Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Ravi Guntupalli, VP of Sales and Marketing comments, “The STA license exception allows export to a select group of thirty-seven countries without the requirement of an export license. Now we can utilize the STA license exception to export to India and look forward to working with leading research institutes in the country.”
