Physical Science Sales Engineer, US Mid Atlantic

Job Description

The Physical Science Sales Engineer, working under the direction of the Director of Sales - Americas, will be responsible for the management of sales in the US Mid Atlantic region. The sales engineer will manage the territory spanning NJ, Eastern PA, DE, MD, DC, VA & NC to provide scientific imaging and spectroscopy based solutions to customers. The region is home to many leading research institutions. The RSE will work with scientists, post docs and investigators to sell Princeton Instruments scientific imaging and spectroscopy based capital equipment technology solutions. The RSE will have a background in engineering, physical or life sciences and demonstrated ability to articulate the value of products based on customer requirements. The ideal candidate is excited about multi-faceted, cutting edge research, has past exposure to the research end users in academia and enjoys demonstrating equipment to researchers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales within assigned territory
  • Execute their own business development plans to grow business in the region
  • Manage opportunities pipeline and quote log to meet and exceed assigned regional quota
  • Attend trade shows and technical conferences
  • Effectively demonstrate products to potential customers and provide training and installation as required.
  • Use company CRM database to better manage the region
  • Forecast and prepare sales reports as required

Job Requirements

  • Self motivated, strong work ethic with ability to work remotely from a home office
  • Experience in capital equipment sales or optics sales with desire for individuals having experience in spectroscopy and imaging techniques.
  • Experience or desire to travel at least 30% of the time within region
  • BS or technical degree in physical science, life science or engineering. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience with academic grant funding process

Customer Support Administrator

Location: Trenton, NJ facility

Princeton Instruments, a leader in high-performance scientific cameras, requires a Customer Support Administrator in its Trenton, NJ facility.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain Serial Number and Repair data bases
  • Track and maintain Customer Service Work Control (RMAs and Cases) in ERP System.
  • Generate repair quotes and sales orders in ERP System following company procedures, and forward quotes to customers for approval.
  • Track Customer Service shipments and billing activity (maintain Customer Billing data).  Track, generate, and maintain performance metrics for Customer Service (Turn Time, Sales, Work in Process, etc.)
  • Interact with customers via phone, fax, email, and other means, to handle Case and RMA status requests, pricing quotes, product exchanges/loaners, issues/concerns with customer claims, purchase orders, etc. 
  • Perform incoming visual and hidden damage inspection of Customer Service Units.
  • Process Customer Service Sales Order shipments in ERP system and freight carrier systems; in compliance with all customer shipping instructions, export control requirements, and company requirements.
  • Review customer claims/purchase orders to determine customer due dates, repair actions, and any other customer specific instructions relating to individual units

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in computer operation
  • Five (5) years of experience in computer operation and database maintenance.
  • Prior experience in Customer Support role.
  • ISO 9000 Experience
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Electronic Test Technician

Location: Trenton, NJ facility

Princeton Instruments, a leader in high-performance scientific cameras, requires an Electronic Technician to test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electronics equipment ranging from full CCD camera systems to printed circuit boards. 

An Associates Degree in Electronics Technology (or equivalent), plus a minimum of 3 years experience testing electronic equipment in a manufacturing environment, is required.  Candidate must be capable of reading schematics and using basic equipment (oscilloscopes, DVMs, etc.) to test and trouble-shoot electronic assemblies.  Excellent computer skills are a must. 

Candidate must also be well organized and capable of working under minimal supervision, and must possess good verbal and written communication skills.  Experience with optical detectors and SMT PCBs is a plus.

Senior Electrical Engineer - Camera Development

Location: Trenton, NJ facility

Princeton Instruments, a global leader in high-performance scientific and industrial cameras has an open position for a manufacturing engineer at its Trenton facility. This position offers the right candidate a considerable opportunity for professional achievement and the amplitude to make significant strides in improving Princeton Instruments’ manufacturing and quality processes.

Responsibilities:

The development engineer will be an individual contributor to the design and development of leading edge imaging and spectroscopy cameras for scientific, industrial and security applications. The engineer will execute both digital and analog circuit design, development, trouble shooting, documentation and transfer of new products to production. Digital design includes hardware and firmware design using programmable logic, microcontrollers and DSPs. The engineer may also serve as project leader from time to time as the need arises.

Education and Experience:

A BSEE or equivalent experience is the minimum required, MSEE or equivalent experience is a plus. The successful candidate will have at least 4 years experience in both analog and digital design with programmable logic (Altera preferred). Experience with embedded microcontrollers is a plus. At least 4 years experience in digital design and debugging is required. Understanding of digital design should include both the fundamentals and modern design methods (structured design, VHDL, etc.). Understanding of and ability to design with high performance analog components (op-amps, high resolution ADCs, DACs) is required. Knowledge of CCD video and control are required, and CMOS imagers is a plus. Knowledge of modern image processing techniques and standards is a plus. Experience with bringing a product into production in a small company environment is highly desired.
